齐鲁青未了

同小白一起,看到绵延几百里的胜利油田,遍地是小鸡啄米一样不停点头的采油井。在黄河口边看到海天相接处,极度兴奋,蓝天上白云悠悠,海天一线下是壮阔无边的海面,是那种一块块青夹杂一块块混黄,这是从巴颜喀拉山奔腾了一万里的黄河水啊,绕过了无数个曲折到此地了就绝不复回。一条大道深入大海深处,两边的路灯更凸显出对称的图形。这个位置下给小白拍的照片非常PP,我的得意之作!

春分

不知道到底因为什么而错过了,可又是很不甘心。早先埋伏的萌芽一经触动,迅速地破土冲出。更不巧的是,boss刚去了march meeting, 在想了两个晚上后还是在周一很晚的时候给boss发去emai。等了一整天收不到任何新邮件,终于在周三时收到了回复,boss说得很简单,两句话而已,我想it looks unclear. 放下了什么都不管,安心干活,可是真欺负我做不了合成似的,弄了今晚还没有做出产物,真是郁闷。

再回头想却搞不明白为何要作这个可恶的合成,我是不是真的成了钻牛角尖?看着别人的paper出来了很多,挺着急的。前段丁涛发了篇advanced materials,在鄱阳湖请客,一桌人不很熟,我其实插不上话。锐哥天天在给他的movie看星星,统计单分子运动,都要准备大作了。总之一提到Paper就伤脑筋。

上周末去爬野香山,同行的人只有一两个相熟,又实在是隔行如隔山,真的没很多话说,我的角色完全是呆板的理科生。相反,这帮人动起嘴皮子,连chat都算是speech.他们做媒体的多,“做媒体”的说法显得低估了,他们就是“风歌笑孔丘”地风流倜傥。我连天黑请闭眼的游戏都玩不了,他们却能跳出来点杀,真NB. 或许十五年之后真有人登上台面,甚至成了“风流人物”就更好了。

絮语

刚开学两周,生活规律,差不多能十点前后回去,很幸福了。难受得是,有几次晚上常作恶梦,恍恍惚惚7小时。难道是在家过节休息太好了干活了就不适应了?弛豫,relaxation,难道是这个效应?

德峰说他的paperLangmuir拒了,我说去年这个时候你就开始写了阿!那时他刚进lab一学期,做做实验就出数据整理文章,而我那时每天去做完AFM就满脸愁容,羡煞人也!迷苏辛苦地做合成,唯一的娱乐是打游戏,告我他写好的两篇都被拒了,开始写第三篇了,那表情不知是悲是喜地对着我。我嬉皮笑脸一过,我的数据还没有呢。受打击没什么大不了,习惯就好,他boss说是让他尝尝科研的苦头先。

上周组会上做工作报告,在lab一年半了,这是第四次,上学期整个都在钻两个问题的尖。只有这些结果,Boss不置可否。看似只是细节问题,可似乎只有我才去钻,让人怀疑我就在死磕。

师兄赴美之前办好婚宴,还是在郭林家常菜,这是5个月内本组第三个大婚的哥们了。害得我要搜罗钱包。好多人去捧场,除了本组和六楼王组的,还有不少人来热闹。本组Boss很能讲,还给井本翻译了日文名,满堂哄然。出了不少游戏整井本两口子,大家挺乐的。

488nm激光器挂了,恐怕至少3个礼拜做不好实验了,咋安排?

牛年

  俩礼拜的假期过得很快。在家就是好啊,不用干活不用操心,睡好觉,给自己的要求很低,就是多陪父母在一起了。回了趟老家,见到了好多人,5年来这是第二次回老家,上次回去是11月,待了一天几乎没接触什么。这次就不同了,春节期间老少爷们都在家,好多人不认识了,比我小三两岁的年轻人大多已经结婚甚至有孩子了,真是快啊。堂弟的婚礼乱糟糟,别人以为他比我大呢。
  一到所里,收到了师弟的email,一个师弟退学了,给大家发了封道别信。这事情太突兀了!why?我原以为他是不能适应本组有点变态的环境。按所里的强盗逻辑,中途退学的还得交几万块的违约金,恐怕不会真交。不知道boss怎么想。一个研究生对一个boss来说简直不算重要,但是本组长期以来都是多劳动少产出,他会有压力的。圣诞节前大家聚餐,boss说自己是理想主义者,我看这话至少一半说对了。上个月我们俩有次讨论一个多小时,boss说了很多,其实我不大明白他话语间深藏的意味.Anyway,我顾不了那么多,我得干好自己的。

NanObama

把Science和politics掺和了,搞笑啊。其实就一个photolithography,到处看到的,尤其是那些AdvancedMaterials之类的鸟杂志最爱玩这些花哨又烧钱的玩意儿。(本组对AM甚微不屑,是有酸葡萄之嫌)

The nanobama structures are made of carbon nanotubes, and the pictures were taken using optical and electron microscopes. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are tiny hollow cylinders of carbon; the diameter of a CNT is tens of thousands of times smaller than a human hair, and CNTs are several times stronger and stiffer than steel. CNTs are grown by a high-temperature chemical reaction, using patterns of nanoscale metal catalyst particles arranged in the shapes of the faces, text, and flags that you see in the images. Each face contains millions of parallel nanotubes, standing vertically on the substrate like a forest of trees. If you were standing next to the nanotubes as they grow, and each nanotube was a 1 foot (0.3 meter) diameter tree, the trees would be growing at over 500 miles per hour! The nanobama faces are approximately 0.5 millimeter wide, or about ten times the width of a human hair.

The nanobamas are made as follows, and as shown in the diagram below:

(1) convert an image (original by Shepard Fairey) of Barack Obama to a line drawing
(2) shrink the drawing and print it onto a glass plate (mask), using a laser system
(3) shine ultraviolet light through the mask, and onto a thin layer of polymer on a silicon wafer, thereby patterning the polymer by photolithography
(4) coat the wafer with a thin layer of catalyst nanoparticle "seeds" for nanotube growth
(5) remove the remaining polymer, leaving the catalyst seeds in the shapes of the nanobamas
(6) grow the CNTs from the catalyst patterns, by placing the wafer in a high-temperature furnace and filling the furnace with a carbon-containing gas
(7) take pictures of the structures, which are barely visible to the naked eye, using electron and optical microscopes
